Oil & Gas
Penetration Testing for Oil & Gas
Cyberattacks on oil and gas systems put critical operations at risk. Protect your sensitive data and infrastructure against hackers who seek to disrupt and steal. Strong cybersecurity is essential for safety and trust.
Overview
How We Secure Oil & Gas.
Protect your oil and gas operations with expert cybersecurity and penetration testing tailored to your industry.
Stop breaches before they happen. Secure critical infrastructure, operational technology (OT), and sensitive data across oil and gas environments. Cyberattacks increasingly target energy companies due to their high-value assets and complex systems. From upstream to downstream operations, vulnerabilities can exist across IT, OT, and third-party integrations. Regulatory requirements and safety standards demand strong security controls. We help you identify and eliminate risks through expert-led penetration testing, ensuring resilience, compliance, and protection against evolving threats.
Threat picture
How Oil and Gas Operations Get Attacked.
Sites are remote, the equipment is long-lived, and a great deal of it now reports back over a network that did not exist when it was installed.
SCADA and process control exposure
Control systems reachable from a corporate network, or occasionally from the internet, are the finding with the largest consequences. We map what is genuinely reachable rather than what the network diagram claims.
Industrial IoT and remote sensors
Sensors and telemetry devices across distributed sites frequently ship with default credentials, unauthenticated interfaces and firmware that is never updated. Each is a foothold on a network that leads somewhere more interesting.
Remote and offshore connectivity
Satellite links, cellular connections and contractor laptops connect remote operations to head office. That connectivity is operationally essential and it is also the route an attacker takes between the two environments.
Contractor and supply chain access
Operations depend on a long chain of specialist contractors, many with network access and equipment of their own. An attacker who cannot reach you directly will look at who already has a way in.
What we deliver
What Pluto Cyber Security Offers Oil & Gas Clients.
Prevent Undetected Spills
Spills cause heavy losses. You face downtime, cleanup costs, and legal damage. Our security checks catch system flaws early. You stop threats before they reach control layers. That keeps your environment safe and your assets protected.
Avoid Production Disruption
Production delays cost money. You cannot afford downtime. We test every layer of your system to stop attacks before they block your process. You keep equipment online and work without pause.
Prevent Plant Shutdown
Unplanned shutdowns hit your bottom line. We find every entry point an attacker could use. You patch those paths fast. Your plant runs steadily without sudden failures or breaks.
Guard Against Facility Sabotage
Facility sabotage targets critical infrastructure, which causes severe damage. Comprehensive security testing uncovers risks and protects your assets from sabotage and malicious attacks.
Prevent Utility Interruption
Utility interruptions disrupt essential services and endanger safety. Securing networks prevents outages and maintains reliable, continuous operations for the energy and water supply.
Ransomware Defense
Ransomware locks your data and stops your work. We test your defenses before attackers strike. You close every risky gap. Your systems stay in control. You never need to pay to get your own data back.
Compliance
What Oil and Gas Has to Answer To.
Operators of essential services in the energy sector fall under the NIS Regulations, with the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework as the structure used to assess them. Both expect testing evidence rather than assurances.
IEC 62443 is the standard most often used for industrial control system security, and its zone and conduit model is a practical way to describe what we find. Where segmentation does not match the design, the report says which zones are actually connected.
Safety obligations sit over everything. We scope operational work so that nothing we do can affect a safety instrumented system, and we would rather leave something untested than take that risk.
- IEC 62443
- NIST
- NERC CIP
Yes. Much of the work can run remotely over your existing connectivity, which avoids mobilisation costs entirely. Where a site visit is genuinely needed we will say so and explain what it adds, because getting a tester offshore is expensive and should be justified.
